New Generation Competition Celebrates Sustainability
Undergraduate students, including 2009 graduates, who are majoring in marine and environmental studies, engineering, oceanography, urban design and planning, policy planning, or public health, are invited to enter the competition.
Students are asked to create an innovative solution to sustainability for coastal cities. The awards are $5000 (first prize), $3000 (second prize), and $2000 (third prize). Internships also will be arranged with major companies involved in water projects. The top five candidates will be invited to attend Henry Hudson 400's "H209 Water Forum" at the Liberty Science Center on September 9-10, 2009.
The forum, which commemorates Hudson's pioneering voyage and discovery in 1609, will explore how the twenty-first-century water challenges facing today's city dwellers can be tackled for a sustainable future.
The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2009. Full competition details are available at www.henryhudson400.com.
