May 9, 2008 (Friday) - CUNY-IIAS 3rd Annual Dinner at the Manhattan Club at
Rosie O'Grady's (800 7th Avenue at the corner of W. 52nd Street). The American Irish Teachers Association and Breandán Ó Caollaí, Deputy Consul General of Ireland in New York will be honored for their outstanding service to Irish-America and the City of New York. February 27, 2008 (Wednesday) - Spring Fulbright Lecture - Ailbhe Ni
Ghearbhuigh speaks on "The Literature of Emigration" in Room C197 at the
CUNY Graduate Center (7pm). This is a free event. More information here.

March 1, 2008 (Saturday) - CFA: Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul. College of
Staten Island at 8pm in the Springer Concert Hall (Building 1P). Tickets are

March 7, 2008 (Friday) - “The Return of the Celt in Modern Galician Culture,” lecture by Prof. José María Rodríguez García (Cornell University) in Room 4116 at the
CUNY Graduate Center (6:30pm). Sponsored by the Ph.D. Program in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages (CUNY). This is a free event. Information here.

March 8, 2008 (Saturday) - "Ireland in Maps: History through Controversy," lecture by Prof. Michael O. Shannon. New York Public Library (Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street). 2:30PM. Presented by the New York Map Society.

March 9, 2008 (Sunday) - "Study with the Best," a segment about the national ACIS conference that IIAS hosted last spring premiers on CUNYTV (75). There are many show times/dates. Full schedule available online here. The show itself is also online, Season 7

March 11, 2008 (Tuesday) - "Evening Readings: Edna O'Brien" (7pm). In addition
to reading from her work, Ms. O'Brien will be interviewed by Leonard Lopate.
The event will take place in the LeFrak Concert Hall in the Music Building at
Queens College at 7pm. Tickets are $15 (free with CUNY student ID).

March 12, 2008 (Wednesday) - The Annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon (2-
4pm) Room East Dining Room, Music Building, Lehman College.

March 12, 2008 (Wednesday) - The Irish on Staten Island: A Discussion and
Bagpipper Performance
from 2:30-4:30pm. College of Staten Island in the
Recital Hall in Building 1P. This is a free event.

April 1, 2008 (Tuesday) - A reading by Irish novelist James Ryan from South of the Border will take place at Baruch College, VC 14-250 at 2:30-3:45 p.m. This event is free of charge, organized in conjunction with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence Program in the
Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, and co-sponsored by the CUNY
Institute for Irish-American Studies.
