Conversation
Circle
Ciorcal Comhrá
Irish Americans have long turned
to Irish dance, music, sports, and language to take pride in their heritage and
develop skills that enrich their ties to Ireland. Those of other backgrounds have
increasingly taken an interest in these Celtic pastimes. The IIAS invites CUNY
students attending Irish language classes this semester and the greater public
to participate in a monthly conversation circle in one corner of the Carman Hall
Café. Advanced beginners to fluent speakers are welcome. There is no charge.
Please phone 718-960-6722 to be sure we save you a seat if you like, or just show
up. Dates: Tuesdays 7PM-8:30PM, September 14, October 19,
November 23, and December 14.
Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights) will be speaking on September 21, 2004 at 6PM at the CUNY Graduate Center. The title of her talk is Renewing the Commitment of Rule of Law and Human Rights: The Way Forward. This is a Graduate Center Public Program. Contact 212-817-8215 or visit http://web.gc.cuny.edu/cepp.
