Admission to the Program
A student will be considered for the program upon recommendation of the school counselor, assistant principal, or teacher.
Applicants will be required to write an essay, in English, on an issue of importance to them. In the essay, the applicant will be asked to address the following questions:
- Why is this issue important to me?
- What groups or people does this issue affect?
- What are some strategies that I can use to enact change or improve the situation?
- What are the long-term changes that these strategies could bring?
Applications will be reviewed, and qualified students will be invited to participate in an interview process to assess their potential for leadership, communication skills, and demonstrated passion about current issues.
In order to participate in the program, successful students and their parents, guardians, or other caregivers will each sign a contract delineating their responsibilities to the program, as well as the program's responsibilities to them.
