Annecy Báez, Director, Counseling Center
Dr. Annecy Báez has been a clinical social worker for the past twenty years, providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy at the Madeline Borg Clinic of the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services in the Bronx, the Hispanic Clinic at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and the Western Queens Consultation Center. She also served as director of the Diagnostic Center at Julia Dyckman Andrus Memorial, where she worked with traumatized children and their families.
Prior to joining Lehman, she was an assistant professor at New York University’s School of Social Work, where she taught clinical practice. Professional interests include psychological trauma and its consequences, substance abuse, domestic violence, stress management, and spirituality. Her recent research interests focus on program evaluation, the use of brief therapy in a college settings, stress management techniques, and screening for mental health.
Dr. Báez earned her master's degree from Hunter School of Social Work and her doctorate from New York University’s School of Social Work.
The Counseling Center provides confidential individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to campus services and outside mental health agencies. Services are free to all Lehman students, and provided by qualified professionals who will listen to concerns in a supportive, non-judgmental manner.
