Veterans and Reservists Affairs

Services

All student veterans and reservists enrolled at Lehman College are eligible for services. We invite you to stop by our office to meet the staff and to participate in all programs and activities offered. Lehman College’s Office of Veterans and Reservists Affairs provides assistance, advice, and counseling to veterans and reservists and their dependents in all phases of college life. Among the services provided are the following:

  • Help with applying for educational benefits.
  • Updated information regarding changes in educational benefits, Federal laws, and support services.
  • Advice concerning entitlement programs under Federal and state laws.
  • Assistance identifying special scholarships for dependents of deceased and disabled veterans, advance payment, disabled veterans book cost programs.
  • Assistance with arranging for tuition deferments for veterans and dependents of veterans based on need.
  • Referral to available tutorial services, either through the Veterans Administration (if eligible) or through Lehman's Instructional Support Services Program (I.S.S.P.).
  • Mentoring through project S.T.R.I.V.E. (Supporting the Transition and Reentry in Veterans Education), a pere-to-peer mentoring program for veterans and reservists.
  • Providing referrals for alcohol and drug abuse programs, personal counseling, immigration, pro bono legal services, substance abuse services, (P.T.S.D.) counseling, etc.
  • Providing referrals to the myriad of resources available to students at Lehman College, including Career Services, the Counseling Center, the Student Health Center, Women’s Health Services, and Student Disability Services.
