Ronald M. Bergmann

Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Ronald M. Bergmann became Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Lehman College on July 1, 2010. He directs all the College's technology and IT services, including a newly opened, $16 million Multimedia Center. Previously, he was First Deputy Commissioner of New York City's Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT).

A veteran of more than thirty years in New York City government, Mr. Bergmann was selected by Government Technology Magazine in 2006 as one of the nation's top twenty-five individuals to redefine and advance technology's role in government and society. He began at DoITT in 2002 as Deputy Commissioner and was promoted in 2006 to First Deputy Commissioner. In 2007, his team received the Citizens Budget Commission Prize for Public Service Innovation for implementing Access NYC, an online tool that allows New Yorkers to screen themselves, in any of seven languages, for thirty-seven human services benefit programs. The annual award recognizes and promotes successful innovations in the delivery of public services.

Before that, he served for six years as Associate Commissioner for Business and Technology Strategy at the City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Within the CUNY system, Mr. Bergmann developed the Citywide Information Technology Internship program, which provides CUNY students with valuable work experience as high-caliber interns for City agencies. In addition, he worked with CUNY's Institute for Software Design and Development to establish an open-source software lab designed to promote the adoption of these solutions across the public sector.
