Effective August 1, 2012, all CUNY faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students involved in research related activities will be required to complete the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative’s (CITI) Responsible Conduct of Research training module prior to conducting research. The RCR training module can be accessed at https://www.citiprogram.org/Default.asp.
In their continued efforts to ensure CUNY is in compliance with all federal, state, and city regulations regarding the responsible conduct of research, The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Gillian Small, has mandated that all new internal and external grant proposals be accompanied by a valid Responsible Conduct of Research training certificate. In order to ensure that proposals submitted on behalf of Lehman College receive consideration, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs urges all PI’s to submit proposals five business days in advance of the deadline.
If you plan to submit a proposal to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or currently have an award from NIH:The National Institutes of Health mandates that “each Investigator must complete training prior to engaging in research related to any PHS-funded grant or contract and at least every four years, and immediately under the designated circumstances: institutional FCOI policies change in a manner that affects Investigator requirements; an Investigator is new to an Institution; an Institution finds an Investigator noncompliant with Institution’s FCOI policy or management plan.” To comply with this mandate, current principal investigators or prospective principal investigators must take the Conflict of Interest training module in the CITI portal
All projects at Lehman College should be in compliance with IRB, IACUC, IBC and Responsible Conduct in Research policies and procedures.
