Theatre is the branch of the performing arts defined as what "occurs when one or more persons, isolated in time and/or space, present themselves to another or others." Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, often utilizing elements such as speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form.This course is designed to engage students in the critical analysis of a dramatic piece of literature with an emphasis on performance. Students study a piece of dramatic literature to extrapolate various themes found there in order to write and/or choose pieces based on these themes for performance.
