Borrowing Regulations
The Library stacks are open to all students and faculty. Books in the collection are listed by keyword, author, title, and subject in the CUNY+ electronic catalog which can be accessed from our Website.
Books may be borrowed at the Circulation Desk on the main floor. A Lehman College identification card validated for the current semester must be presented to borrow any Library materials. Since the Library uses an automated circulation system in which all transactions are registered against a bar-encoded label, all borrowers must be registered.
If the borrower's identification card or any book to be borrowed does not contain a bar-coded label (on the inside back cover) please bring it to the Circulation Desk registration station (closest to the elevators).

Recalls
Books may be recalled after two weeks for all borrowers. When returned, all recalled books are held at the Circulation Desk for 5 business days and a notice is sent to the requesting borrower. Books requested by the faculty for Reserve use will be recalled immediately.
top
Book Returns
Books should be returned directly to the Circulation Desk when the Library is open. When the Circulation Desk or the Library is closed the book return slot to the right of the main entrance outside the Library should be used.
Please remember that just leaving books on the Circulation Desk counter or re-shelving them will not clear your record. All returned books must be checked in by the Circulation Desk staff.

Renewals
Books not needed by other borrowers and not overdue may be renewed for the original loan period. The Circulation Department of the Library now accepts book renewals online. Click herefor instructions. Renewals are not permitted by telephone or mail.

Fines
All materials borrowed from the Library are the responsibility of the borrower. Fine schedules are established by the Board of Trustees to ensure compliance with circulation regulations and to keep materials available for the greatest number of users. Overdue books are fined 10-cents per day per book. Books overdue 30 days will automatically set at the maximum fine. Borrowing privileges are suspended to any student with fines or overdue books outstanding. Overdue and bill notices are sent to borrowers solely as a courtesy.
If the fines are not paid or delinquent books are not returned, registration will be blocked and transcript records cannot be released. Also, Library borrowing privileges will be suspended at all CUNY campuses.

Lost Books
Books which are reported lost must be paid for at the current price plus a processing fee.

Reserve Books
The reserve Division is located at the Circulation Desk on the first floor. Required readings for a particular course are placed on reserve for limited circulation at the request of the instructor. Computer lists of all reserve materials can be accessed through CUNY+. Selected textbooks for current courses offered at Lehman are also available on reserve.
Reserve materials are available for use in the Library only! use is limited to a two (2) hour period. Fines will be accrued for any damaged, lost, or overdue items.
Faculty wishing to place items on reserve should submit a reserve list form (available at the reserve desk) at least three (3) weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Due to the heavy volume of reserve requests, items submitted later will not be processed immediately.
A number of study rooms for group study are located on the third floor for the use of Lehman students only. The rooms are kept locked and keys for them may be obtained at the Reserve Desk. Students wishing to use the rooms must have a current valid bar-coded Lehman College ID. There is a three (3) hour limit on use of the rooms at any one (1) time. Fines will be charged for over staying the time limit and for lost key(s).

Get Materials form Other Libraries
( Interlibrary Loan )
Interlibrary loan offers the possibility of obtaining resources not available in the Lehman College Library. It is available for faculty and currently enrolled graduate students. The students must have a signed consent slip from their advisor which can be obtained from the Interlibrary Loan office when they submit their request forms for books and other material to the Interlibrary Loan staff. There may be a fee charged for materials borrowed from non-CUNY libraries. One to two weeks should be allowed for receipt of the loans. Books must be signed out. Photocopies may be kept by the borrower. Due dates on books may vary. Borrowers must understand that they are responsible for the return of the book to the Interlibrary Loan office on or before the due date. Please do not request an interlibrary loan for material already owned by the Library.
Patrons may fill out the Request for Interlibrary Loan online or contact Mr. Eugene Laper at 718-960-7762 or interlibrary.loan@lehman.cuny.edu

Photocopy
Photocopy machines are located throughout the library on all the floors. Four machines are on the main floor to the right of the main entrance, three machines are on the lower level (two in the hallway and one in the east alcove of periodicals), and there is one machine in each alcove behind the elevator bank on the second and third floor. Copies are 10 cents each and vend-a-cards may be used instead of coins.
There are two change machines in the library. They give change of one dollar bills only in dimes. One is located on the lower level in Periodicals by the service counter, the other is located on the main floor near the Reference Desk.
Vend-A-Card dispenser is located opposite the circulation desk on the main floor. Please follow the instructions on how to use the dispenser which are posted above the machine. When you insert one dollar ($1) you first get a card with only 7 copies at 8 cents a copy, but for every additional dollar you put on the card you get 12 copies per dollar. When you have used up the number of copies on the card you may reinsert your card into the vend-a-card dispenser and add money for more copy value to your card. The copy cards are usable on all the photocopy, microfilm, microfiche and other machines in the library.
