For instructions click on "Access From Home Instructions."

6. Do you have the textbook for my class?

You can ask at the Circulation/Reserve Desk. You must know your professor's name and the name of the class or textbook. You can also check this information in the online catalog, CUNY+ Library Catalog.

7. How do I find a book in the Library?

To find out if the Library owns a particular book, click on "Find Books & Journal Titles in the Catalog" on the Library's homepage in order to access Library Catalog.
You can search for the book or journal by its title (do not include "the" "a", or "an" if this is the first word of the title) or by the author (last name first), or by keywords. For more about using the online catalog see CUNY+ Library Catalog.

8. How do I find a journal article?

There are two places you can look:
1) for paper copies of all journals click on "Find Books & Journal Titles in the Catalog" on the Library's homepage in order to access Library Catalog.
You can search for the journal by its title (do not include "the" "a", or "an" if this is the first word of the title);
2) for electronic versions of journals, click "Find Electronic Journals by Title" on the Library's homepage. Then type in the title of the journal.

9. What is the difference between a magazine and a scholarly journal?

A magazine is a publication intended for a general public. It contains articles written by people who are not necessarily experts in the field. A scholarly journal is a publication that contains research articles written by experts for their peers. 10. What is a "peer-reviewed" article?

An article is called "peer-reviewed" when it is published in a "peer-reviewed" scholarly or scientific journal. Before publication, the article is reviewed by experts in the specific field or discipline.  The author's article is judged worthy of publication by a jury of his peers.

11. Where can I watch videos?

In the Fine Arts Library on the 2nd floor.

12. Where in the Library can I use Miscrosoft Word, Excel, or Powerpoint?

In the Computer Labs located in the basement, rooms B27A and B27B, on the 2nd floor Fine Arts Library, the 3rd floor Education area, and four terminals in the South end of the first floor Reference area. (These computers also permit Internet access and printing.)

13. How can I obtain material that is not available from Lehman College Library?

a) Inter-Campus Book Borrowing / CLICS  

Current Lehman students, faculty or staff members who need a circulating book not available in the Lehman College Library collection can request to borrow it from another CUNY library. For more information, from the Library Homepage, click “Borrowing Books from Other CUNY Libraries - CLICS!"

Current Lehman students, faculty or staff members may also visit and borrow on site from other CUNY libraries.

b) Interlibrary Loan Services

Current Lehman graduate students and faculty may request items not available at any CUNY library through Interlibrary Loan. For more information, from the Library Homepage, click “Library Services – Get Materials from Other Libraries.”
