Science

Science.gov
http://www.science.gov/
"Each agency selects its best science information for science.gov. Two major types of information are included — selected authoritative science Web sites and often hard-to-access scientific databases (specific content varies by database). This gateway to government science information allows searches across 30 databases and more than 1,700 science Web sites. Science.gov currently accesses over 47 million pages of government science information. Science.gov allows users to search the surface Web as well as the deep Web, where traditional search engines cannot go. The information is free, with no registration required."

National Academies
http://www.nationalacademies.org/
"The National Academies perform an unparalleled public service by bringing together committees of experts in all areas of scientific and technological endeavor. These experts serve pro bono to address critical national issues and give advice to the federal government and the public. Four organizations comprise the Academies: the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council."

National Science Foundation
http://www.nsf.gov/
Among other goals, the National Science Foundation (NSF) aims to "initiate and support, through grants and contracts, scientific and engineering research and programs to strengthen scientific and engineering research potential, and education programs at all levels, and appraise the impact of research upon industrial development and the general welfare," as well as to "award graduate fellowships in the sciences and in engineering."

Office of Science and Technology Policy
http://www.ostp.gov/
"Congress established OSTP in 1976 with a broad mandate to advise the President and others within the Executive Office of the President on the affects of science and technology on domestic and international affairs. The 1976 Act also authorizes OSTP to lead an interagency effort to develop and to implement sound science and technology policies and budgets and to work with the private sector, state and local governments, the science and higher education communities, and other nations toward this end."
