Lehman Center for School/College Collaboratives

History, Mission, and Facts

The STEP program is designed to assist economically disadvantaged secondary school students from DeWitt Clinton High School in acquiring the skills needed to pursue courses of study and careers in science and mathematics, technology and health related fields. Through the Out-Of-School Time Initiative, this program provides a four week summer bridge at Lehman College, and quality after-school services to ninth graders at Pelham Preparatory Academy. The goal is 100 percent promotion into the tenth grade.

The mission of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is to provide coordinated academic support services to currently enrolled college students who are first generation college students, with limited income, and/or with disabilities, enabling them to persist and graduate from Lehman College. Educational Talent Search: Pathways to College and Upward Bound are Federal TRIO programs that provide services to low-income, first-generation college-bound students. The goal of these programs is to increase the high school graduation and college enrollment rates of 650 students at four Bronx public high schools.
