Lehman Teaching & Learning Commons (LTLC)

Lehman Teaching & Learning Commons (LTLC)

The mission of the Lehman Teaching & Learning Commons is to foster relationships in teaching and learning activities between Lehman College faculty, students, and staff and to provide a virtual and physical space for developing projects related to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Our mission includes support of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL), of teaching and learning services, and of the teaching and learning community. All Lehman faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to participate in the ongoing conversations and programming sponsored by the Commons as well as by other Lehman departments and programs.

We offer a variety of formal and informal events such as orientation seminars, pedagogical workshops, and coffee hours as well as maintaining an online presence with a Blackboard calendar of events, seminar and workshop resources, and social media. The LTLC houses a lending library of professional and pedagogical materials; the Director is available for consultations for individual and group teaching and service projects.

At present, the LTLC is supporting activities in the following areas:

  • New Faculty Orientation Seminars
  • Learning Theory and Best Instructional Practices Workshops
  • Faculty Mentoring and Professional Review Preparation
  • Faculty Coffee Hours
  • Collaborative Workshops in Faculty Resources and Processes
  • ePortfolios for Teaching and Mentoring
  • The STAR Mentoring & Coaching Program
  • The Transfer Coaching Program
