Painter placed first in the competition and was selected to participate in the next Best Warrior Competition that will be held at the end of April at Fort Belvoir in Washington, DC. At Lehman College, David is majoring in Anthropology, Biology and Chemistry and plays on the baseball team where he serves as Captain.  He hopes to bring a CUNY Championship to Lehman this year and years to follow while he is at Lehman College.  In addition, to his studies at Lehman, he has been in the United States Army Reserves since 2007 and has attained the rank of Sergeant.  During his short time in the U. S. Army, he has completed a tour of Italy and recently returned from a deployment to Baghdad in June 2011.

“I have used my skills that I have learned in the military and from my parents (Christine and Larry Painter) on how to be a great leader and person which has helped me be a very successful young man. I respect those who have served and who are serving and also family members of those who have served because they are our biggest support channel we as soldiers have. I'm looking forward to the future and what ever the good Lord has in store for me and to make a positive impact on those around me.”
