Santoiemma Named CUNYAC’s Assistant Director For Championships

Bronx, NY - The City University of New York Athletic Conference has named Kim Santoiemma Assistant Director for Championships, it was announced today by Executive Director Zak Ivkovic.

Santoiemma, who will be responsible for supervising all aspects of the CUNYAC’s 23 championships, has worked in the CUNYAC office as the Sports Information and Championships Graduate Assistant for the past two years. She joined the staff in August of 2002 after she was selected as the first recipient of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant Program.

“After two years of serving CUNYAC as a graduate assistant, Kim has proven her worth to our conference office,” said CUNYAC Executive Director Zak Ivkovic. “Her attention to detail and hard work are second to none and we are quite pleased to add her talents to our staff. We’re grateful for the opportunity the NCAA presented us and the CUNYAC will benefit greatly from it.”

Santoiemma graduated from Lehman College in May 2002 with a B.A. in English with a specialization in Creative Writing and a minor in Secondary Education. As a four-year starter for the Lightning women’s softball team, Santoiemma ranked nationally in various statistical categories and was named team Rookie of the Year in 1998. Santoiemma also wrote for The Meridian, the Lehman College newspaper, where she was responsible for covering all collegiate athletic events taking place on campus. Upon her hiring in 2002, Santoiemma attended a NCAA seminar for its inaugural class for the Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant Program. The inaugural class consisted of nineteen female interns from four conferences and fifteen institutions across the country, all within Division III athletics, and each have had various duties at their institutions from sports information to compliance.

Santoiemma, 25, a life-long resident of New York City, resides in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx.
