Player Of The Week

EDGAR LUGO, LEHMAN Sr. / G / 6'1" / Bronx, NY
After a slow start this season, the 6’1” sharpshooter is back to bombing away for the Lightning. Last week, the William H. Taft High School alum averaged 20.0 points, 4.6 assists and 4.0 steals in three wins. Against Centenary, he hit a game winning three-pointer with 26 to give Lehman the lead for good. Then on Saturday versus Lincoln, Lugo, who was born in Venezuela, was 5-11 from behind the arc. For the season, Lugo has moved up to seventh on the scoring list at 15.3 ppg, while occupying the #3 spot in steals (3.0). He is also in the top ten in both three point percentage (.333) and threes made per game (2.4).


Rookie Of The Week

SHACUN MALAVE, CITY TECH Fr. / C / 6’7” / Bronx, NY
For the second straight week, the freshman from DeWitt Clinton High School wins the CUNY Rookie award. Despite two conference losses by the Yellow Jackets last week, he had two more double-doubles, giving the midyear addition four in five games played for NYCCT. For the week, Malave a native of El Salvador averaged 16.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks.
