Player Of The Week


KELLY WEISMULLER, Brooklyn Fr. / C / 6'0" / Brooklyn, NY

Despite the Bridges' 0-2 week, the Brooklyn native (James Madison HS) continues to dominate under the boards. A 6' freshman center, Weismuller shot 64% (18-28) from the field and 73% from the line (11-15) en route to a 23.5 point and 16.0 rebounding average for the week. The conference leader in field goal percentage at 71% also piled on 5.5 blocks, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per contest.


Rookie Of The Week

MELISSA ESCALERA, Lehman Fr. / F / 6'0" / Bronx, NY
The Lightning rookie led her squad to a 1-1 CUNY week with an exceptional individual effort. The freshman out of Stevenson High School in the Bronx averaged 21.0 points and 18.0 rebounds on 54% shooting from the floor (15 of 28). She also added 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals. On the season Escalera has been amongst the CUNY scoring leaders wit ha 16.8 average in helping Lehman win six of their last eight games after a forgettable start.
