Athlete of The Week - LAURA PAPAGNI, Staten Island Sr., Staten Island, NY

Swimming


In two CUNYAC meets, Papagni won six out of her eight events, while taking second place in the other two to lead the Dolphins to two wins. An alum of Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, Papagni won the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and swam the fly leg of the 200 medley relay in both meets. A gold medalist in the 2000 CUNYAC Championships, the 5'4” senior will look for the top spot again on February 1st.
 


Rookie of The Week - BARBRA ANN TOLAN, Hunter Fr., Woodside, NY

After following her older sister, Rita, to Hunter, Tolan is making a name for herself in the pool. Last week, as the Hawks went 2-2, the Stella Maris High School graduate won the 50 breaststroke (37.07) against Division II CW Post. She also had four second place finishes and nine thirds in the four meets. She will join Hunter's veterans as they take a perfect 6-0 CUNYAC mark and the trophy back to the Championships.

Athlete of The Week - ALLAN KOK, Staten Island Jr., Staten Island, NY


At only 5'6” Kok hardly stands out in a crowd, but as a two-time champion in the 2002 CUNYAC Championship, he makes a big mark in the pool. An alum of St. Peter's High School, Kok won four of his eight races in dual meets versus York and Baruch to lead the Dolphins to their second straight CUNYAC Regular Season title. He won the 100 freestyle in both meets and won the 50 freestyle and the 200 medley relay against Baruch.
 


Rookie of The Week - EMRAH ERTAMAY, Baruch Jr., Long Island City, NY

One of the anchors of the first year varsity program at Baruch, Ertamay helped the Bearcats to a 1-1 week, as they prepare for their initial conference championship. Surprisingly coach Pushaen Gunasinghe's team in now in the #2 spot. Against CSI, Ertamay (Long Island City High School) won all three of his solo events. He swam the 100 butterfly in 1:06.75, the 100 individual medley in 1:10.04 and the 50 butterfly in 29.19.
