Athlete of The Week - MAUREEN MCBRIDE, Hunter Sr., Ridgefield, CT

Swimming


Mc Bride is closing her senior year with a flourish. The two-time CUNYAC Tournament MVP won both the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke in her fastest times of the season in the meet against Mount Saint Mary. She also led the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle squads to victory in 2:08.77 and 2:01.54 respectively.
 


Rookie of The Week - SOPHIA YANG, Baruch Jr., Flushing, NY

The Forest Hills alum won two individual events and helped win two relays for the Bearcats in an easy win over Lehman last week. The first year swimmer won the 50 breaststroke in 44.64 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:36.49. Then she teamed to win the 200 medley relay (2:48.21) and swam the 200 freestyle relay (2:50.07).

Athlete of The Week - DENNIS McINTOSH, York So., Queens, NY


The 2002 CUNY Championship MVP continued to dominate the men’s league this season. He was a perfect 4-0 in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly events. In last week’s Cardinals win over Lehman, the sophomore from Springfield Gardens High School went 24.80 in the 50 freestyle, 27.00 in the 50 butterfly and 57.63 in the 100 butterfly.
 


Rookie of The Week - OMAR DIAZ, York Fr., Uniondale, NY

The new addition from Uniondale High School made his mark on CUNYAC this season by going undefeated this season in both the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke heading into this weekend’s CUNY Championship. In last week’s only meet a 19-point win over the Lightning, Diaz went 30.59 in the 50 backstroke and 1:07.19 in the 100 backstroke.
