Athlete of The Week - Natalia Villar. John Jay Fr., Lima, Peru

Villar

A recent graduate of Roosevelt HS in Yonkers, Villar has led the Bloodhounds to a 3-0 CUNYAC mark by winning all 11 races she has entered so far. In John Jay's surprising win over Staten Island, she won the 200 individual medley (2:40.83), the 100 butterfly (1:12.45) and swam a leg of the winning 200 medley relay. After winning the same three events and the 50 butterfly against Lehman, she swam the 200 individual medley versus NJIT and Baruch in 2:37.17.

Rookie of The Week - Zulathat Nauzo, Baruch So., Jamaica, NY

A first-year swimmer pacing a first-year program, Nauzo, an alum of Queens Gateway HS, won five of six individual events (and two relays) in two meets as the Bearcats test out their sea legs. She was actually Baruch's first-ever varsity swimmer when she swam the leadoff leg of the squad's winning (2:46.9) 200 medley relay in the loss at York. Nauzo also won the 100 freestyle in 1:04.37 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.52 against John Jay.

Athlete of The Week - Allan Kok, Staten Island So., Staten Island, NY


A two-time gold medalist (100 individual medley, 200 medley relay) in last year's inaugural CUNYAC men's championship, Kok has picked up where he left off last season. In two meets for the undefeated Dolphins, the St. Peter's grad won four out of six races, including all three against NJIT. Versus Adelphi, the Staten Island native won the 50 butterfly in 27.63 and placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.51.
 

Rookie of The Week - Brian Llido, Baruch Fr., Staten Island, NY

In the Bearcats opening victory over York, Llido, a freshman from Staten Island, NY won two individual events, one relay and slotted second in another race. A graduate of Farrell HS, he won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.40, the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.09 and anchored the 200 medley relay team which finished in 2:09.38. The Baruch men's team is now off until the New Year.
