Athlete of The Week - RITA TOLAN, HUNTER, Jr., Woodside, NY

Tolan


A complete team player, Tolan swam for the Hawks four straight days with two dual meets sandwiched around the ECAC Championships where the Hawks finished tied for 19th place. In the each of team's four dual meets, Tolan won at least one race, showing remarkable versatility. She won the 100 yard individual medley versus CSI in 1:17.43, the 100 yard backstroke in the York meet (1:21.09) and the 500 freestyle against Lehman in 6:39.77.
 


Rookie of The Week - SUZANNE AKULIN, HUNTER, Fr., Flushing, NY

A standout freshman for the Hawks, Akulin helped lead the Hawks to the school's second straight CUNYAC Regular Season title with wins over Staten Island and Lehman. In the CSI meet, the Brooklyn Tech HS alum won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:45.76 and the 100 yard butterfly in 1:12.63. A week later, she paced the 50 yard freestyle in 28.26 and swam a 32:36 in the 50 yard butterfly. She also set a school record at the ECAC's in the 400 IM in 5:56.21.

Athlete of The Week - ANDREI KOLESNIKOV, BROOKLYN, Sr., Brooklyn, NY


A native of Moscow, Russia, Kolesnikov was outstanding in Brooklyn's recent meet versus Staten Island. Unfortunately, for the Bridges his performance wasn't enough for the team victory. Nevertheless, the resident of Brooklyn won both Individual Medley races, the 200 in 2:20.9 and the 100 in 1:04.19 and also slotted second in the 50 yard butterfly (27.60). Brooklyn is now off until January 8th when they face Baruch.
 


Rookie of The Week - MOHAMMED IKHMAYES, CSI., So., Staten Island, NY

A newcomer to the defending champion Dolphins, Ikhmayes, formerly of Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, was sharp against Brooklyn College with one first place finish and three seconds. He shared the top place in the 200 yard medley relay (1:54.51). Ikhmayes followed that by taking second in the 50 yard breaststroke (34.45) the 50 yard freestyle (25.58) and the 100 yard individual medley (1:14.25).
