Female runner of the week
 Maria Castro, Lehman, SR. Columbus, Bronx, NY
Last season's third place CUNY finisher,
Castro won her first-ever race at the Bard
Invitational in Anandale, NY this past Saturday.
The senior finished the 6,000 meters
course in a time of 25:00.00, despite
muddy conditions on the course. It was
also her personal best time under the
NCAA's new 6K format.

Male runner of the week
Ben Opare-Abetta, Hunter SR. Outreach, Accra, Ghana
Ben Opare-Abetia seems to be finally
back in form after his ankle injury from the
May 2001 outdoor track championships
that slowed him all of last season. His
30:57.69 at Bard is his best time since
running 30:33 at the end of his sophomore
campaign and the fifth-best time of
his career.
