Female runner of the week

Maria Castro, Lehman, Sr. Columbus, Bronx, NY

Castro continued to pace CUNY on Sunday, winning the Brooklyn Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Her time of 20:47.90 not only earned Castro a gold medal but was the fastest CUNY time of the season at the historic venue. Previously, she won gold medals at both Stevens Tech and Bard Invitationals.

Male runner of the week

Omri Holzman, Hunter, Fr. Ironi Daled, Tel-Aviv, Israel

Freshman Omri Holzman captured his first gold medal in only his second meet for the Hawks with a time of 29:23.00. He also broke the 30-minute barrier in his very first race at Van Cortlandt Park last week. Holzman improved (albeit on a different course) by over a minute-and-a-half from last week.
