Player of The Week

Erja ERJA VETTENRANTA, CCNY So. / OH / Jurva, Finland

The first-team CUNYAC All-Star and All-Tournament selection picked up where she left off as a freshman. The Finnish import and Manhattan resident paced the Beavers to a 1-1 week with 34 kills, 21 digs and 17 service aces. The 5'7 sophomore outside hitter leads the NCAA Division III in service aces and her team with 4.7 kills per game. She netted 26 of them in their loss at New Jersey City. Runners-up from a year ago, she hopes to lead CCNY to their first CUNY title since 1984.

Rookie of The Week

MARINA BALINA, Baruch Sr. / MB / Brooklyn, NY

The 5’9 senior is also a rookie on the volleyball squad, helping the Bearcats to a 3-0 CUNY mark. Balina (#115 H.S. Moscow, Russia / Brooklyn, NY) has averaged 2.87 kills and 1.73 digs thus far while helping Baruch to a 1-1 mark last week. She collected 21 kills, 12 digs and 4 service aces in that span and will look to lead Baruch in their big matchup tonight at Lehman.
