Player of The Week

Erja Erja Vettenranta, CCNY - So, OH, Jarva, Finland

For the second straight week, the sophomore spiker wins Player of the Week. Last week the Manhattan resident led the Beavers to a 4-2 mark and a third place finish in the Elmira Invitational. In 19 games last week, Vettenranta averaged a staggering 5.9 kills per game, while hitting over a .500 clip. She also had 45 digs, 32 blocks and 26 aces during the span.

Rookie of The Week

Classic John, Hunter Fr. / MH / Brooklyn, NY

After concentrating on basketball during her first year at Hunter, John turned her attention back to volleyball which she also played in Washington Irving HS. At 6'0" John is an imposing force in the middle, as evidenced by her 23 blocks and 25 kills in four matches (16 games) last week. On the season, she's averaging 1.49 kills, 1.02 blocks and 0.46 digs per game for the six-time defending champions as they prepare to host Lehman in a battle CUNYAC unbeatens on Tuesday night.
