Player of The Week

Erja Jezel Rodriguez, Hunter SR. S, Bronx, NY

The Hawks moved one step closer to clinching another CUNY regular season crown with an impressive home win over Lehman as Rodriguez turned in another classic performance. The senior setter DeWitt Clinton HS) collected 16 kills, 29 assists, 26 digs and four service aces in the four-game victory for Hunter, their 73rd consecutive in CUNY play, fourth longest in NCAA. In a 2-2 week the three-sport star Rodriguez had 39 kills, 82 assists, 55 digs and 10 aces. She is just 31 aces shy of an NCAA Division III record of 486.

Rookie of The Week

Marina Balina, Baruch Sr. / MB / Brooklyn, NY

The 5'9 senior, competing collegiately for the first time, proved to be the difference in the Bearcats' five-game marathon win over John Jay last week. Balina (#115 Omsk, Russia) notched 22 kills and 29 digs for the match, while getting 9 kills and 6 digs in the crucial game 4 to keep Baruch alive. For the season Balina is averaging 3.1 kills and 2.9 digs, earning her second straight rookie honor.
