Player of The Week
Jezel Rodriguez, Hunter SR. S, Bronx, NY
With 21 aces in two matches on Columbus
Day, Rodriguez set a new NCAA
record for career service aces at 491 (the
previous mark was 486). In addition, the
three-time all-star led the Hawks to a 7-0
week, upping their CUNYAC winning
streak to 77 straight matches. In 24
games last week, the Clinton HS alum
had 154 assists, 81 kills (.445 hitting pct.),
78 digs and 35 aces. She currently leads
Hunter in all five of those categories. |
Rookie of The Week
Marina Balina, Baruch Sr. / MB / Brooklyn, NY
Balina (#115 Omsk, Russia) a 5'9" senior
had another strong week for the
Bearcats. In a 3-2 week, Balina hit .342
for the week with 80 kills, 46 digs and 12
aces in 18 games. On the season, this
three-time CUNY Rookie of the Week is
averaging 3.62 kills per game, 2.77 digs,
0.72 aces and 0.49 blocks while hitting at
a .220 clip.
