PABLO PALMA, SR, G, JOHN JAY, NORMAN THOMAS HS, NY, NY
The Norman Thomas product averaged 28.3 points in three
contests last week to lead John Jay to a 2-1 record. CUNY’s
second leading scorer is now averaging 22.7 points per game
and is shooting 54 percent from the floor. The senior guard
opened the week with 30 points (10-for-19 fga) in a victory
against William Paterson and then exploded for a career-high
37 points (12-for-19 fga) in the victory over St. Joseph’s-
Brooklyn. He rounded out the week with an 18-point effort in
the loss against Nichols College. The Manhattan native went
29-for-58 from the floor and converted on 17-for-23 of his
free-throw attempts.

MATT SAUNDERS, FR, G, ST. ISLAND, CARDINAL SPELLMAN HS, YONKERS, NY
The Yonkers, New York native enjoyed a solid week for CSI,
averaging 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
Despite struggling from the field against St. Joseph’s-Long
Island, the freshman was able to contribute seven assists and
help lead the team to a victory. He rediscovered his scoring
touch with 20 points against Kean in a tough, overtime defeat
and then closed out the week with 17 points and six rebounds
against Manhattanville. The Cardinal Spellman graduate is
averaging 13.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season.

2003-04 CUNY-NJAC CHALLENGE
This season the CUNY Athletic Conference and the New Jersey
Athletic Conference have teamed up for an in-season challenge,
pitting the ten CUNYAC teams versus the ten NJAC teams for both
men and women. The matchups were selected by order of finish
from last season. The will continue all season long and continue to
monitor the results.
