New York, NY - The New Jersey Athletic Conference rallied from a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the City University of New York Athletic Conference, 115-107, in the fourth annual CUNYAC/NJAC Senior All-Star Challenge.
Forward Antoine Green (York) gave CUNY a 99-93 advantage with 5:33 remaining after completing a three-point play. However, the NJAC scored the next eight points to go out in front 101-99 with 3:50 left. Pablo Palma’s (John Jay) lay-up evened the score at 103-103 with 3:10 left. But the NJAC would outscore the CUNYAC by a 12-4 margin to close out the contest.
Gene Mergenthal (Camden), was named the NJAC MVP after he scored a game-high 18 points and was 7-for-10 from the floor to lead the NJAC. Samar Battle (NJCU), the NJAC Player of the Year, added 17 points.
Lehman’s Jonathan Rojas led the CUNYAC with 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Ricardo Reimers (Hunter) added 14 points and Green finished with 13.
