#3 Staten Island 78 , #6 Manhattanville 58
Staten Island, NY - The third-seeded College of Staten Island Dolphins ran out to a 48-20 halftime lead en route to a 78-58 victory over the sixth-seeded Manhattanville Valiants in the opening round of the 2004 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Tournament at the Sports and Recreation Center on Wednesday. Junior Jacclyn Rock (Staten Island, NY/New Dorp HS) led all scorers and rebounders with 24 points and 14 boards. The Dolphins, who never trailed in the contest, opened the game on a 12-2 run and never looked back. They will advance to Saturday’s semifinal against the winner of #2 William Paterson and #7 Stevens Tech. The game will be played at the CSI sports and Recreation Center at 7pm on Saturday. Seniors Tamara Taylor (Staten Island, NY/Curtis HS) and Donna Przybyszewski (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond HS) scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, as CSI improved to 22-6 on the year. The Valiants were led by senior guard Nicole Terzian (Bronx, NY) with 17 points. Manhattanville finishes their season at 16-12.
