Queens,
NY -
The Hunter Hawks swept the 2004 CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday afternoon at St. John’s University. It was the second consecutive title for Hunter’s men and the women captured their first championship since 1999.
“It was a very gratifying day for us,” said Hunter head coach Ed Zarowin. “What makes it so exciting is that we had so many young people do so well. Some of our kids were able to score points in events that were not considered to be their specialties.”
On the men’s side, Hunter outscored runner-up Medgar Evers, 191-116. York finished third with 102 points, and they were followed by Lehman (70), City Tech (36) and CCNY (13). Hunter’s women garnered 207 points to dethrone second-place Lehman (180), last years champion. Medgar Evers (94) finished third and was followed by York (28).
