Female Track Athlete of The Week

The junior won the 1,500 meters in 5:05.75 to highlight York’s effort at the MAC meet, held last Sunday at the 168th Street Armory. She also placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:18.58. Now a junior, the Campus Magnet High School product who finished in second place in the 2003 CUNYAC Cross Country Championships will be heavily counted on by Cardinals’ head coach Tom Pope this season.

The junior who transferred to Hunter from the University at Buffalo and placed second at the CUNYAC Cross Country Championships back in October blew past the field in the 1000 meters at the Wesleyan Invitational last Saturday. The Staten Island, NY native won the event in 2:38.40, outdistancing his closest competitor by 7.5 seconds.

The defending CUNYAC Champion won the shot put last Saturday with an effort of 12.11 meters at the Wesleyan Invitational in Middletown, Connecticut. A sophomore from Brooklyn, she is already on pace to beat her CUNYAC Record mark of 12.35 meters set in the 2002 Indoor Championships.

The Akosombo, Ghana native turned in a terific effort at the Wesleyan Invitational last Saturday. The sophomore won the triple jump with an effort of 13.23 meters. He also placed sixth in the long jump (5.92 meters), and helped the 4x400 meter relay squad finish 10th (3:53.77). In addition, he took 20th in the 55 meters (7.07).
