Bronx,
NY - Hunter sprinter Tiffanie Clark (Erasmus/Staten Island, NY)and Lehman jumper Shelly-Ann Finnegen
(Evander Childs/Bronx, NY) will represent the CUNY Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor
Championships this weekend. The event will take place at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Clark, a senior, will compete in the 55 meter dash and clocked the fifth fastest time in the country this season with an effort
of 7.17, which she recorded at the ECAC Championships this past weekend. Clark, who took the gold medal in the event
at the CUNYAC Championships, also established a new conference standard in the 200 meters with a first-place sprint of
25.89.
"A very important hurdle in Tiffanie's road to success was covered at the ECAC Championships,
" said Hunter head
coach Ed Zarowin. " Having faced that level of competition in an intense environment like that has been great preparation
for the NCAA Championships."
Finnegen, just a sophomore, will compete in the long jump after turning in a qualifying effort of 17'-10 1/4" this season. Finnegen also won the event at the CUNY Championships.
"We are all very proud of Shelly," said Lehman head coach Lesleigh Hogg.
"Last season, she was our number three jumper so she has come a long way. I
think that she will do extremely well in Wisconsin because she excels when she
is up against better competition."
