Player of The Week - Miguel Jaquez, John Jay So., 6'1, CF, Brooklyn, NY


The reigning CUNY Player of the Year is having another outstanding season for the Bloodhounds. The Telecommunications High School graduate batted .600 (12 for 20) in a 2-3 week for Jay with six runs, six RBIs and 2 doubles while making good on all six steal attempts. On the season he is batting .545 while placing in the top 10 in NCAAs in batting, triples (10) and stolen bases (31-34).


Pitcher of The Week - Lino Isabel, Staten Island Sr., 6'2, P, Brooklyn, NY

The senior hurler for the Dolphins earned a win in Staten Island's 5-3 triumph over Mt. St. Mary as he scattered five hits over five innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. Isabel (New Utrecht HS), a CUNY all-star the past two seasons, improved his season numbers to 2-0 while keeping his ERA at 2.16

Rookie of The Week - Mark Gonzalez, John Jay Fr., 6'0", P, Staten Island, NY

The freshman pitcher from Msgr. Farrell High School improved to a staff-best 4-2 mark on the year after scattering 10 hits over nine innings last week, allowing two earned runs and striking out five in a 3-2 decision over Manhattanville. His 3.52 ERA is tops for the Hounds and he has nearly half the team's win total.
