SEMIFINAL #1 - STATEN ISLAND 13, BARUCH 1

The College of Staten Island topped Baruch in the semifinals 13-1, to advance to the CUNYAC / Burger King
Championship final for the ninth straight season, every year under head coach Bill Cali.
The Dolphins (19-14) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, without benefit of a hit on two walks, two
stolen bases, a wild pitch and an infield error. In the next inning, the Dolphins they added three runs on RBI extra
base hits by sophomore 1B Tom Wohlfit, junior CF Eric Zinke and sophomore RF Jason Filaramo for a 5-0 lead.
Meanwhile CSI junior righthanded starter Ted Maceda shut down the Bearcats on two hits over the first seven
innings. He ended up yielding only five hits, no walks and four strikeouts over nine innings.
Baruch (0-22) scored their only run when junior 2B Edwin Fernandez scored on a ground out by freshman
outfielder Emil Geosits.
SEMIFINAL #2 - LEHMAN 8, JOHN JAY 3

Lehman junior righty Mike Centeno gave up only six hits and two walks in a complete game victory, 8-3 over
John Jay, to send the Lightning to the CUNYAC / Burger King Baseball Championship final for the second time in
three seasons.
The Bloodhounds (9-18) scored in their first at bat, when CUNYAC Player of the Year, sophomore CF Miguel
Jaquez reached on an error and scored on a single by junior C John Tango. That was followed by a single by senior
LF Paul Torre that scored senior 3B Angel Rivera for a 2-0 lead.
The Lightning didn't score until the top of the fifth inning when junior RF Jason Castillo walked and came
around on a single by junior LF Hector Vallejo. They evened the score in the sixth inning when sophomore DH
Christian Molina scored on a double by junior CF Jonathan Duran. Lehman broke the game open in the next inning
when they added three more runs, followed by three more in the top of the ninth.
Junior catcher Johary Burgos finished the game 3-5 with one run batted in, while Castillo had two RBI for the
Lightning (10-17).
