Player of The Week - BILL MURTHA, Hunter So., #2 flight, Middletown, NJ

With the Hawks starting the year off at 2-0, #2 singles player Bill Murtha has kept pace with the team and has his own 2-0 streak going. The sophomore out of Christian Brothers High School knocked off opponents from John Jay (Vitaly Zubry 6-3,6-3) and York (Youssef Chafei 6-4,6-1) in straight sets. Murtha also combined with Oded Meiron to win both doubles encounters as well on the week.

Rookie of The Week - CRAIG KAFKO, Hunter Fr., #5 flight, Spring Valley, NY

The other Hunter newcomer in the starting six earns the Rookie of the Week honor. Kafko, hailing from Ramapo High School in Spring Valley, NY, won both of his singles matches last week despite playing up a spot at #4 against John Jay. He outlasted Steven Pires 3- 6,6-4,7-1 in the third set tie-breaker and then followed it up with an easier 6-0,6- 1 win over York’s Wade Thomas.
