CSI Set For 1st-Ever NCAA Softball Tournament

STATEN ISLAND, NY - After their thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Hunter College in last Friday’s CUNY championship game, the College of Staten Island now know their next step. The Dolphins will begin play this Friday, May 7th, at the NCAA East Regional to be held at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ. The Dolphins earned CUNYAC’s automatic berth to the Big Dance for the first time and will be the # 5 seed in the five-team field. The winner of the regional will advance to the Division III softball championship to be held in Salem, Virginia, May 14-18.

The field in the Ramapo regional includes: #1 seed Moravian College, the Commonwealth Conference Champions from Bethlehem, PA; #2 Ramapo College, the New Jersey Athletic Conference runners-up; #3 Allegheny College, the North Coast Athletic Conference Champions from Meadville, PA; and #4 seed Union College, of the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Dolphins will open the doubleelimination tournament, facing fourthseeded Union College from Schenectedy, NY, in the regional’s opening game on Friday. The Dutchwomen come into the tournament with a 21-3 record, with each of their three losses coming by a single run.
