Aki Trent

Player of The Week - Aki Trent, CCNY Sr., 6'2", G, Mt. Vernon, NY

Trent led the resurgent Beavers to three straight victories with 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 steals, while shooting 50% from the field. Trent (Mt. Vernon HS / Colorado Northwest CC), a senior leader, scored 22 points and grabbed 8 boards in the win over St. Joseph's. Trent was an All-Tournament selection in last year's CUNY Tournament in leading the Beavers to the title.

Rookie of The Week - Shaun Applebaum, Baruch Fr., 6'5, C, Brooklyn, NY

Applebaum has been a force off the bench for the Statesmen, who went 2-1 over the break. The native of the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn averaged 11 points and 3.7 rebounds a game against the Statesmen's three non-conference opponents. A graduate of Xaverian HS, he also shot 15-24 from the field and had a career- high 19 points against Emmanuel over the weekend.

BARUCH 2-1 on the week
2000 Tournament MVP Lou Pento has joined the Statesmen during his graduate school days and has had two straight double-doubles at the Western Connecticut Tourney. He's averaging 12.3 ppg and 12.7 rpg. John Alesi had 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting in the Emmanuel win.

BROOKLYN 0-0 on the break
The Bridges will have a 29-day layoff going into tomorrow's non-conference tilt with St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) after today's match up with Baptist Bible was snowed out. After St. Joe's BC will face CUNYAC's two other Brooklyn schools, City Tech and Medgar Evers.

CCNY 3-1 on the break
The Beavers are riding a three-game winning streak, with two wins over Skyline opponents. Sophomore center Obinna Efobi continues to shine with three straight double-doubles while being 6th in scoring, 3rd in re-bound in 1st in blocks in CUNY. Rookie Darryl France notched 10 points in the St. Joe's victory.

HUNTER 2-2 on the break
Hunter started off the holiday festivities by knocking off NYU at Coles 57- 54 and followed it up with a home victory over Rutgers-Newark. Lorcan Precious paced Hunter with 15 points vs NYU, while Darryl Munroe had 18 points and 6 assists in the latter one. The Hawks then dropped both games at the Scranton Tourney.

JOHN JAY 1-1 on the week
The Bloodhounds had their 3-game winning streak snapped in the Championship of the Lebanon Valley tourney to the host team 71-67. Pablo Palma led four players in double figures with 13 points while Dave Myrie notched 17 points and 10 rebounds in the opener vs. Chowan.

LEHMAN 2-2 on the break
Lehman dropped two games against NJAC opponents but bounced back to beat St. Joe's of Brooklyn and Emmanuel (MA). Jeff White (17 vs CNJ) and Luis Chavez (20 vs. St. Joe's in 12 minutes) have played well of late for the Lightning whose 9-3 overall mark is second bast to CSI.

MEDGAR EVERS 1-1 on the break
Junior swingman Jebah Clayton led the Cougars to a runner-up spot at the West. Connecticut tourney, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals. Khalil Nixon paced Evers with 21 points in the win over Rivier, while adding 20 points and 12 caroms in the finale.

NY CITY TECH 0-1 on the break
In their lone game over the break the Yellow Jackets dropped a home game to Kean. Sophomore center Kwesi Joseph had 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Sam Deadwyler notched 18 points on a off-night for him, shooting 6 for 27.

STATEN ISLAND 1-2 on the break
The Dolphins dropped two of their last three after committing 27 turnovers vs Montclair in the 77-63 road loss. Kassim Nesbitt paced CSI with 18 points with freshman Michael Stewart adding 14. The backup point guard averaged 13.0 ppg for the week.

YORK 1-2 on the break
The Cardinals dropped a tough one on the road with a 62-53 decision at William Paterson. Jason Daniel led York with 12 points, while Roberto Tapia paced the Cards with 16 in the win over Worcester State in the Montclair State Tournament.
