BARUCH 2-1 on the week
The Statesmen put together their best effort of the year in beating
Medgar Evers at home 85-73. John Alesi led the way with 17, with
rookie Shaun Applebaum netting 16, while doing an excellent job defensively.
Garry Etienne tallied 18 points, 10 boards and 9 blocks earlier
in the week against CCNY. Baruch has won 7 of their last 8 games.
BROOKLYN 0-4 on the week
The Bridges backcourt combination of Jason Fulford and Sean Wallace
had outstanding individual efforts in four losses, three of which were
against CUNY opposition. Wallace tallied 21.7 ppg with Fulford right be-hind
at 21.3, while also dishing out 4.5 assists per game.
CCNY 1-2 on the week
Rookie Daryl France continues to shine for the Beavers. France reached
his career high of 25 points twice last week, first in the win over Baruch
and the latest on 8 of 11 shooting in the loss to City Tech. He has pushed
his average to 9.6 ppg. Aki Trent added 19 in the loss to Medgar Evers.
HUNTER 1-1 on the week
The Hawks put a scare into Staten Island prior to bowing down by a 73-
70 margin. Darryl Munroe paced the Hawks with 27, while Lorcan
Precious (7 assists) added 12 and Samir Pepic 10, with both nailing 2
of 4 threes. Precious hit for 21 (5 of 7 threes) earlier in the week against
City Tech with Pepic adding 11.
JOHN JAY 0-3 on the week
After a very hot start, the Bloodhounds have slumped to three straight
losses, all in conference play. Rookie Edmund Scott continues to be a
bright spot however, finishing with team-high 21 against Lehman and 16
points and 10 boards vs. CSI. Another rookie, Tim White, shot 4 for 4
and tallied 13 in the overtime loss at York.
LEHMAN 2-1 on the week
The Lightning earned a huge divisional win over John Jay with Jonathan
Rojas leading the charge with 25 points for the top team in the North
Division. Chris Bowman tied a CUNY high this season with 21 rebounds
while also adding 13 points on 6 for 6 shooting against Brooklyn. Rojas
also added 17 in 20 minutes of action.
MEDGAR EVERS 2-1 on the week
After two impressive victories the Cougars had their perfect week disrupted
by Baruch. Jebah Clayton is taking off with his offensive output,
scoring 25, 28 and 31 points against CUNY competition. His 28 point
performance may have been his best, shooting 12 for 17 from the field
and 4 of 5 from threes. Raheim Lowery added 21 vs. Brooklyn.
NY CITY TECH 1-1 on the week
Sam Deadwyler led five players in double figures with 25 as the
Yellowjackets knocked off another conference foe at CCNY. Deadwyler
also grabbed 10 boards while Kwesi Joseph also registered a double-double
with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nkosi Hamilton added 11 points
and 6 assists. Jeff Thomas tallied 19 in the loss to Hunter.
STATEN ISLAND 3-0 on the week
Freshman Michael Stewart nailed the winning three-pointer to keep the
Dolphins unbeaten in CUNY play as they battled to beat Hunter 73-70.
Stewart finished with 18 along with Kassim Nesbitt. David Paul scored
a game-high 24 in the home win over John Jay while Champ Albano led
the charge with 20 in the narrow 65-62 victory over York. The Dolphins
have won 4 in a row and remain ranked #1 in NCAA's Atlantic Region.
YORK 2-1 on the week
The Cardinals let one slip away early in the week at Staten Island, but
bounced back to knock off two tough CUNY foes in Lehman and John Jay.
Roberto Tapia (17.7 ppg) and Dwayne Uriri (16.3 ppg) led the way
offensively as York is making a push to bounce back over the .500 mark
for the first time this season.
