Player of The Week - Kassim Nesbitt, Staten Island Sr., 6'2", F, Brooklyn, NY

Kassim Nesbitt

The 6'2 forward paced the Dolphins to a 2-0 week. In their sixth consecutive victory, a 92-84 decision over Baruch, Nesbitt tallied a career-high 33 points on 10-13 shooting form the field while also doing a stellar defensive job on Baruch's top gun Lou Pento. For the week, the New Utrecht high school product averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 67% from the floor and 86% from the line.

Rookie of The Week - Donte King, Hunter Fr., 5'10, G, Ozone Park, NY

The freshman shooting guard did his job on the week, shooting his way to a 16.3 point per game average in a 2-1 week for the Hawks. The John Adams High School graduate scored 21 points in the win over Ursinus and added 14 apiece versus York and Brooklyn, while nailing 13 three-pointers in the process. He also added 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals as Hunter has evened their CUNY mark at 4-4.

BARUCH 1-1 on the week
The Statesmen got a strong effort from Lou Pento in the win over City Tech with a first ever 20-point, 20-rebound performance. Guards Ernie Capello (6 of 9) and Joe Longobardi (6 of 8) have been outstanding from beyond the three-point arc last week.

BROOKLYN 0-2 on the week
The Bridges backcourt combination of Jason Fulford and Sean Wallace paced the team again. Fulford averaged 18.0 points and 2.5 assists while Wallace chipped in at 16.5 per contest. Brooklyn will look to snap their 7- game losing streak when they host CCNY on Tuesday.

CCNY 1-1 on the week
The Beavers gave it their all in two tough CUNY games, losing to CSI on the road after a 24-point effort from Aki Trent and then dominating a shorthanded York squad at home. Trent nailed 10 three pointers in the two games. Sophomore Obinna Efobi and rookie Daryl France scored 18 apiece against York, with Efobi adding 13 boards.

HUNTER 2-1 on the week
The Hawks went 2-1on the week in a home stretch with senior Darryl Munroe surpassing the 1,500 point mark for his career. The 6'5 forward tallied 20 points in the overtime loss against York, while point guard Lorcan Precious led the Hawks with 24 in the win over Ursinus (PA). Rookie guard Donte King nailed 13 threes on the week and averaged 16.3 ppg.

JOHN JAY 2-0 on the week
The Bloodhounds enjoyed two lopsided wins last week over Brooklyn and Polytechnic with several rookies making an impact. Pablo Palma scored 21 in the win over Poly with Tim White adding 10 and 6 assists. Another rookie, Edmund Scott, led four players in double figures with 19 against Brooklyn. Palma chipped in with 13 points and 4 assists.

LEHMAN 1-1 on the week
The Lightning played three overtime periods over two games and man-aged a split. In a heartbreaking conference loss to Medgar Evers, Edgar Lugo scored 28 and Mike Patrick tallied 18, but that was not enough as the Cougars escaped with a win in double OT. Lugo added 23 and Amil Hector hit for 10 points (all 8 of his free throws) in the OT win over Old Westbury. Luis Chavez chipped in 12.0 points on the week.

MEDGAR EVERS 1-0 on the week
Khalil Nixon was the hero for the Cougars in the road win over Lehman. The 6'6 center hit the tying lay-up with :08 seconds left in regulation and paced Evers with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Steve Chase added 19 points and 9 assists, while sharpshooting Chad Scott burried 5 of 6 threes and finished with 17 points.

NY CITY TECH 1-1 on the week
Ray Paul scored a career-high 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting from the field in leading the Yellowjackets to their third victory (over Keuka) in the last six games. Nkosi Hamilton added 12 points, 4 assists and 4 steals, while Roger Redhead hit 4 of 6 for 11 points.

STATEN ISLAND 2-0 on the week
The Dolphins found more ways to win at home. Freshman Michael Stewart sank two free throws in the closing seconds and had 17 points in the 1-point win over CCNY and Kassim Nesbitt had a career-game with 33 points as CSI came back from a eight-point halftime deficit to beat Baruch. David Paul shot 8 of 10 in the latest victory as the Dolphins have won 6 in a row and remain ranked #1 in NCAA's Atlantic Region.

YORK 2-1 on the week
The Cardinals had their four-game winning streak snapped at CCNY over the weekend as center Quincy Oudkerk and leading scorer Roberto Tapia sat out with injuries. Earlier in the week, York bounced Hunter in OT behind 20 points from Tapia and Old Westbury with Shawn Simms leading a balanced attack with 9 points.
