CUNYAC / CON EDISON NOTES

BARUCH 2-0 on the week
The Statesmen continued their roll with two non-conference wins last week, beating Division II Concordia and making up a 37-18 deficit with 17:00 remaining to beat Yeshiva by 21 points (69-48). Sophomore guard Joe Longobardi shot 12-23 from the arc, scoring 25 and 18 respectively. He nailed 5 of 6 threes in the second half of the comeback win over Yeshiva. Freshman center Sime Marnika added 16 points and 11 re-bounds, all in the second half, as the Statesmen won their fourth straight.

BROOKLYN 0-3 on the week
The Bridges were playing catch up the whole week and came up short three times. Against York they battled back from a 12-point deficit and had a chance to win with :07 seconds left but missed a 3-pointer. Forward Cliff Brown paced Brooklyn with 22, while guard Sean Wallace had 18 in the loss to Purchase.

CCNY 1-2 on the week
The Beavers are still searching for answers despite solid efforts from several players. Sophomore Obinna Efobi continues to dominate the paint after averaging 24 points and 10 rebounds for the week, including 27 in the win over Centenary. Efobi's monster game at Hunter, 29 points and 15 boards on 10 of 16 shooting, failed to get the Beavers from going into the break at 2-7. Senior guard Aki Trent chipped in at a 20.6 clip, while freshman Darryl France has played well as a spot-starter.

HUNTER 1-1 on the week
The Hawks closed out Hunter's Homecoming last Friday with the school's seventh athletic victory of the night with a 92-74 win over the defending champion CCNY. Senior forward Darryl Munroe had 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. After shooting 14 for 22 on the week, the Lafayette HS alum is shooting at a .684 clip on the season. Lorcan Precious led the Hawks in scoring with 22 points while dishing out 11 assists with Donte King adding 19.

JOHN JAY 2-0 on the week
Trailing most of the game, the Bloodhounds were fortunate to earn their fourth straight win in their first road game this season, at Vassar. The home team shot an amazing 67% (12-18) from the three-point range and still lost. Senior Howard Hutchinson had 16 points in the contest.

LEHMAN 1-0 on the week
Unbeaten in their last four games, the Lightning sit atop the North Division standings as they head into a matchup with Baruch, last year's division winners. Both teams are on a four-game win streak. Junior guard Jonathan Rojas led the team in a four-point win over City Tech with 26 points, four assists and four steals. Newcomers Amil Hector (15 points) and Luis Chavez (9 points) also had solid contributions for the surprising lightning bolts.

MEDGAR EVERS 1-1 on the week
After dropping two straight, the Cougars bounced back on the road to beat a much-improved Farmingdale 90-86. Junior Malik Copeland led the Evers effort with 22 points, while sophomore Jebah Clayton chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds. Raheim Lowery also added 18 for the winner. Earlier in the week the Cougars lost to Brooklyn rival City Tech 86- 76, as four regulars sat out for disciplinary reasons.

NY CITY TECH 1-1 on the week
The young Yellow Jackets earned their first win of the season as sophomore Sam Deadwyler nailed a career-high 41 points on 13 of 21 shooting. He followed that one up with 22 points in the close home loss to Lehman. Jeff Thomas added 21, while the conference rebounding leader Kwesi Joseph pulled down 17 and added 12 points and 7 assists.

STATEN ISLAND 2-0 on the week
The Dolphins continue to roll with two more non-conference wins. First they knocked off their third-straight New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent, Kean, 77-74 to start off the week. Senior forward David Paul had 26 points, ten rebounds and four blocks in the game. CSI then beat an overmatched St. Joseph's of Brooklyn 80-50. Defensive specialist Kassim Nesbitt tallied 22 points, while Paul added 17. Freshman John Smith saw plenty of minutes and grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 12 points.

YORK 1-3 on the week
Cardinals' senior Dwayne Uriri was consistent last week, even though the team went 1-3. The 6'3 forward averaged 12.3 ppg and five re-bounds, while shooting well (22-43) from the floor. The Cardinals dropped both games at the RIT tournament, despite 30 points and four rebounds on 12-22 shooting in the two games from the Nigerian forward.
