CUNYAC Men's Tennis - April 08, 2002
Player of The Week - Chander Goel, Baruch Sr., #6, Staten Island, NY
CUNYAC's two-time defending champion
at #4 singles, Goel, who originally hails
from India (Army School), has moved
down in the lineup to accommodate
Baruch's new players. Last week, he went
2-0 in both singles and doubles, beating
CCNY's Salman Shah 6-1, 6-4 in singles,
before teaming with Eugen Balagula to
win 8-2 in doubles. The 5'8 rightly also
won 10-6 against his Pratt opponent.
Rookie of The Week - Oded Meiron, Hunter Fr., #4, Ramat Aviv, Israel
Forced to move up to #2 singles in two
non-conference matches, Meiron won
both comfortably. Against Ramapo, the
alum of Israel's K. I. Chaverim school, he
won 6-2, 6-1. Later in the week, he beat
his Western Connecticut opponent, 6-2,
6-4. Meiron also went 1-1 in doubles for
the 0-3 Hawks (he didn't play against
Manhattanville). On the season, he's now
3-1 in singles.
