CUNYAC / CON EDISON NOTES

BARUCH 1-0 on the break
After only eight games, the Stateswomen have equaled last year's entire win total. Much of their success is due to new guard Stephanie Trahan (Roxbury Central/Inwood, NY), a transfer from Oneonta State, who scored 22 points to go along with six rebounds and six steals in their only game last week.

BROOKLYN 0-0 on the break
The Bridges, under first-year head coach Erin Flanagan are still looking for their first win with two games in Brooklyn on tap for this week- St. Joseph's and fellow winless CUNYAC rival NY City Tech.

CCNY 1-2 on the week
Samantha Halpern, a transfer from Minneapolis CC, who was averaging nearly 20 ppg, was hurt in the Lady Beavers' six-point loss to New Jersey City over the break. She's expected to be out of action for 4-6 weeks. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Victoria Rautilia has also missed the last three, as she is visiting her native Sweden.

HUNTER 1-1 on the break
The Hawks split non-conference games over the break, topping Kean and falling to Trinity (CT). Sophomore forward Jen Agosto, was sharp on both occasions, netting 14 and 12 points respectively. The Hawks will come to the home of CUNYAC at Lehman College's APEX on Tuesday night in a battle of league unbeatens. The winner will have the upper hand in the tight North Division race.

JOHN JAY 0-2 on the week
The Bloodhounds have had a really tough stretch, losing their last five in a row. This week, Jay will try to snap out of it with a home tilt against Medgar Evers (Tuesday 6 pm). Sophomore guard December Bails had 21 points and seven rebounds against Mount St. Vincent on Saturday.

LEHMAN 2-2 on the week
Congrats to senior guard Desirae Ross, who reached the 1,000-point career plateau with a layup just over a minute into the Lightning's January 3rd game with Clarkson. A two-time CUNYAC all-star (1999 & 2000), Ross is having her finest season, averaging 14.9 points and 6.2 re-bounds and 3.3 assists. "It's something that I always wanted to achieve," said the Queens native. "It gives me motivation for the rest of the season. We're finally coming together and we're ready for tomorrow night."...In four games over the break, sophomore forward Florena Rhodes aver-aged 23 points, 6.8 rebounds and four assists to top the team.

MEDGAR EVERS 0-0 on the week
Head coach Roy Anderson's squad will look to stop a two game losing skid (dating back to December 9th) as the Lady Cougars jump back into action with three CUNYAC contests over the next six days, beginning with John Jay on the road Tuesday night.

NY CITY TECH 0-1 on the break
In the Yellow Jackets only one game over the break, junior Iasha Pryor had 11 points to lead the way. Sophomore Nicole Palmer led the team with nine rebounds in the contest.

STATEN ISLAND 0-3 on the break
It's definitely been a year of transition for the Dolphins, CUNYAC's two-time defending champs, who only returned three starters this season and have had numerous injuries to the squad. Tonight as they face Rutgers-Newark at home, CSI will try to break their first four-game losing streak since December of 1995, when they lost five in row. On the positive side, that was the first of six consecutive years that the Dolphins have been in the CUNYAC final (winning three).

YORK 0-0 on the break
Another school that had the entire break off, the Cardinals return to the hardwood with three home games over the next three days, as City Tech is sandwiched in between to non-conference games.
