CUNYAC / CON EDISON NOTES

BARUCH 3-1 on the week
The Stateswomen have turned the corner under 3rd year coach Bob DiNardo, evening their conference mark at 3-3 after beating Brooklyn and Medgar Evers. Stephanie Trahan nailed 7 of 11 threes vs. the Cougars en route to a season-high of 34. Jamees Wright added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Mimoza Kalezic chipped in with 13 against Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN 0-3 on the week
Senior guard Katima Emptage continued her excellent play this season with strong efforts against Medgar Evers and Baruch, tallying 22 and 29 buckets respectively. In the loss to Baruch she nearly posted a triple-double with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 9 steals.

CCNY 4-0 on the week
What Clarice Bell started Lauren Cargill finished. Bell dominated inside against Baruch with 17 points, 12 boards and 8 blocks while Cargill's 32 points at USMMA surpassed Monique Rye (1,494) for the #1 spot on the CCNY all-time scoring list. The junior has 1,547 points after averaging 27.0 points and 10.5 rebounds last week, putting her 3rd on the CUNY list and within easy reach of Baruch's Hilary Williams in the #1 spot (1,830).

HUNTER 2-1 on the week
The Hawks are heating up at the right time. After dropping a 57-40 decision to the #3 team in the nation, NYU, the Hawks have bounced back with wins over City Tech and Staten Island. Sophomore Jen Agosto tallied 20 in the NYU loss, while Jen Rogers paced the winners with 23 over the Dolphins. Melodie Abrook adde 12 points and 11 boards.

JOHN JAY 1-2 on the week
The Hounds stopped a four-game losing skid with a road win over York in Jamaica, Queens. Cherith Pointer led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds, including the lay-up that won the game in the final seconds. Kieran Francis scored 12 points (7 boards) in the loss to Lehman.

LEHMAN 3-0 on the week
Senior Ivelisse Rosario became the school's all-time assist leader with 292 after dishing out 10 in the win over Brooklyn, surpassing Charlene Thomas. Rosario is also the school's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 146. The ball generosity has spread to leading scorer Chanel Kendall who passed out 7 and 9 assists in back to back wins over York and Brooklyn, to go along with her 18.5 ppg.

MEDGAR EVERS 1-3 on the week
The Lady Cougars lost three of their last four, but clearly this is a much-better Evers team of late. The return of Rannie Miles doesn't hurt either as the junior guard tallied 37 in the Baruch loss. Rebounding giant Keisha Toms added 15 points and 19 boards. Toms pulled down 23 deflections off the rim in the CCNY loss.

NY CITY TECH 0-3 on the week
The Yellow Jackets got phenomenal individual efforts from Camille Manning last week. The sophomore averaged 36.0 points and 5.3 re-bounds while shooting 36% from the field. She scorched St. Joe's for 39 points and followed it up with 37 vs. Hunter and 32 vs. CCNY.

STATEN ISLAND 2-1 on the week
The Dolphins handled York and John Jay relatively easily prior to the Hunter clash. Keisha Cook posted three more double-doubles, including her 24-point, 16-rebound effort vs. York, their closest rival in the South Division. April Nelson added 18 in the Jay win, while Cook's 20 was not enough in the Hunter loss, whom they beat in the last two CUNY finals.

YORK 0-3 on the week
After a promising start to the week with Shayna Priestley netting 23 in a spirited loss at CSI, the Cardinals went down unexpectedly to John Jay at home. York shot very poorly the entire game, as Jennise Masseus scored 15 and Tuere Mitchell added 11.
