BARUCH 2-1 on the week
The Stateswomen had their five-game winning streak snapped at Staten
Island on Saturday after two more wins last week. Stephanie Trahan
hit four of six 3-pt. attempts and finished with a game-high 21 points in the
win over Purchase. Medicia Jeffrey added 11 points and 6 boards.
Trahan was the lone double-digit scorer against CSI.
BROOKLYN 0-3 on the week
Senior guard Katima Emptage tallied 20 points in the loss to Kings Point
while grabbing 9 rebounds. She added 11 more against Hunter with 5
steals. Sophomore Amina Wilson added 3 points apiece.
CCNY 1-1 on the week
Freshman Kim Neos averaged 12.5 points for the Beavers while posting
a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards in the narrow win over
York. In the loss at CSI which broke CCNY's 5-game win streak, Lauren
Cargill led five players in double figures with 18, adding 9 assists. Fresh-man
Barbara O'Connor added 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Forward
Samantha Halpern (severe ankle sprain) is expected back this week.
HUNTER 3-0 on the week
Hawk sophomore Jen Agosto remained hot, tying a school record with
7 three-pointers made against York en route to a career-high 27 points.
She hit 12 of 20 threes on the week where she averaged 16.7 points.
Hunter started the week with a big road win at Mt. St. Mary and ended it
with an easy one over Brooklyn as Tania Blanco (18 pts, 13 rbs) and
Melodie Abrook (13 pts, 10 rbs) posted double-doubles.
JOHN JAY 1-0 on the week
The Hounds earned their lone win of the week on the road at Brooklyn,
as December Bails led three players in double figures with 15 points.
Leisel Ann Amow added 12 points and 7 steals while Kieran Francis
chipped in with 11 points.
LEHMAN 1-1 on the week
The Lightning remained perfect in conference play with the win over
Medgar Evers, but dropped their non-conference encounter at St. Joe's.
Both games were played without scoring leader Chanel Kendall, who
sat out for personal reasons. She will return for Tuesday's big game vs.
Staten Island. Florena Rhodes picked up the slack in her absence,
averaging 33.5 points, 12.5 boards and 5 steals.
MEDGAR EVERS 1-2 on the week
The Lady Cougars won the consolation game of the Mt. St. Mary Tournament
after dropping a close one in the semis to SUNY-Farmingdale.
Keisha Toms scored 18 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.
NY CITY TECH 0-3 on the week
Camille Manning continued to contribute for the Yellow Jackets as she
scored 29 points and had 5 steals in a 63-36 loss at Baruch. She scored
27 points with 5 assists in a loss to Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) in the first round
of their tournament, with Iasha Pryor putting in 10 points. In the consolation
game she scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a loss
against the Cougars. She was named to the All-Tournament team.
STATEN ISLAND 2-0 on the week
The Dolphins have won two straight and six of their last seven after
sizeable victories over CCNY and Baruch. Keisha Cook led five players
in double-digit scoring for the Dolphins as April Nelson nailed 9 three-pointers
on the week. She became the all-time three-point leader in the
Baruch game, surpassing Tara Gagliardo, after posting a season-high
23 vs. CCNY. Jacclyn Rock added 10.5 points and 9.0 boards.
YORK 0-2 on the week
The Cradinal slump extended to 7 games after losses to Hunter and CCNY
last week. In the 7-point loss to City, Tushana Watson paced York with
15 points with Esperanza Visbal and Angela Mills adding 12 apiece.
