Player of The Week - Erja Vettenranta, CCNY- Fr, OH, Jarva, Finland

The 5'7 freshman outside hitter from Finland has added a lot of offensive spark to CCNY, as the Beavers are riding a five-game winning streak. Vettenranta led CCNY to a 3-0 week with wins over Brooklyn, USMMA and New Jersey City. For the week she accumulated 45 kills, 58 digs and 17 service aces. She is the CUNY leader in hitting percentage, digs and aces per game.

Rookie of The Week - Wendy Pierre, Medgar Evers - Fr., MH, Brooklyn, NY

The 6'1 freshman middle hitter out of Canarsie High School led the Cougars to their first win of the season over Polytechnic. Pierre collected 22 kills, 5 solo blocks, 4 digs and 4 service aces. On the young season, Pierre leads the Cougars with 3.0 kills, 5.0 digs and 1.0 blocks per game.

BARUCH 0-0 on the week
Have not played since 9/8.

BROOKLYN 0-2 on the week
Senior setter Nicole Berish paced the Bridges in two losing efforts with 17 kills, 14 digs, 12 aces and 9 assists. OH Kenisha Caicedo added 14 blocks and 13 digs in losses to CCNY and Purchase.

CCNY 3-0 on the week
The Beavers continued their hot play with three more wins this week, including a CUNY win over Brooklyn as well as home wins over USMMA and New Jersey City. Both of the latter wins came aftre CCNY dropped the opening game. A pair of freshmen outside hitters are leading the charge in Erja Vettenlanta and Catherine Martinez as they combined for 45 and 33 kills respectively in three matches.

HUNTER 2-0 on the week
The Hawks extended their winning streak to five with victories over William Paterson and York. Senior OH Jen Manicad paced Hunter with 15 kills and 13 digs, while also adding 10 kills versus York. Freshman Ivana Ivkovic added a career-high 10 kills vs. Paterson.

JOHN JAY 2-1 on the week
After losing to Mt. St. Mary, the Bloodhounds earned wins over Staten Island and Old Westbury in straight sets. Senior setter Isorys Dilone led Jay with 49 assists and 7 digs while rookie Andi Zhao added 20 kills and 10 digs.

LEHMAN 1-1 on the week
Junior Garcia's troops knocked off City Tech to improve to 3-1 in CUNY action on Wednesday. Madelayne Garcia led the winners with 8 kills and 3 aces with Esmeralda Camacho adding 19 assists and 3 aces. OH Shaunte Ruiz chipped in with 9 aces. Lightning then lost their away encounter at Manhattanville in three straight.

MEDGAR EVERS 1-0 on the week
The Cougars notched their first win of the season over Polytechnic in five sets. Freshman middle hitter Wendy Pierre led Evers with 22 kills, 4 digs and 4 service aces, while Karen Alexander added 13 kills and Crystal Noel chipped in with 30 assists.

NYC TECHNICAL 0-3 on the week
The Yellow Jackets are still in search of their first victory after three more losses last week. Setter Sandy Kouw led City Tech with 12 assists, 8 digs and 7 kills.

STATEN ISLAND 0-3 on the week
The Dolphins dropped all three contests at home, including a CUNY loss to John Jay. Sophomore Tracy Rutter paced CSI with 54 digs, 16 assists and 15 kills, while part-time basketballer Donna Przybyszewski added 59 digs, 17 kills ans 11 service aces.

YORK 0-1 on the week
The Cardinals lost their lone encounter of the week at Hunter in three straight.
