Player of The Week - Jezel Rodriguez, Hunter - Sr, S, Bronx, NY
As the Hawks ride a nine game winning streak, Rodriguez, a 5'6 converted setter
continues to break school records. Yesterday, as the team clinched their sixth
straight CUNYAC Regular Season title, the three time all-star served up 17 aces
(a school record) against Brooklyn to also set the season aces mark with 118.
Otherwise, she had 240 assists (30 per game), 35 digs and 19 kills.

Rookie of The Week - Esmerelda Camacho, Lehman - Fr, S/OH, Moca, Dominican Rep.
The latest member of the Lightning's Camacho family (her two brothers play
men's volleyball) has been playing like a veteran for coach Junior Garcia all
season. A 5'5 resident of Washington Heights, she had 68 assists, 32 digs, 20 aces
(including 14 against CSI) and 16 kills as the team enjoyed a 3-1 week.

BARUCH 0-4 on the week
The Stateswomen fell four times last week, three of which were conference matches. In yesterday's multi-match event at Hunter, Daphne Wong had 14 assists in their loss to CCNY.
BROOKLYN 1-3 on the week
Second year head coach Marianne Doyle finally got into this year's win column, as the Bridges beat City Tech early last week in straight sets. Senior Nicole Berish (Brooklyn, NY) continues to pace the team with 24 kills and 32 digs last week.
CCNY 3-1 on the week
After topping Manhattanville and Medgar Evers early in the week, the Lady Beavers lost at home to Hunter in three games, dropping CCNY from the ranks of the unbeatens (an 8-0 start). Freshman setter Sheila Garcia had 127 assists in the four matches. A scheduled match with John Jay for yesterday will be made up on Saturday, as CCNY will look to solidify second place in the standings.
HUNTER 8-0 on the week
The Hawks dodged two strong threats to their consecutive CUNY match winning streak (65 straight), when they beat both Lehman and CCNY on the road before taking out Baruch and Brooklyn yesterday. On Saturday, Hunter won the school's second Invitational Tournament in the past three seasons, as senior Nora Wnuk (New York, NY) and junior Jezel Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) were named All-Tournament. Wnuk was named NYSWCAA Player of the Week yesterday, while senior Jennifer Manicad (Flushing, NY) broke the school record for career digs with 1181.
JOHN JAY 3-1 on the week
In his first season with the women's team head coach Nick Zavalkov has the Bloodhounds in good position with a 4-2 CUNYAC mark as they prepare for City Tech tomorrow and CCNY (along with Stevens Tech) on Saturday. Senior setter Isorys Dilone had 18 assists yesterday in a straight set win over York.
LEHMAN 3-1 on the week
The Lightning rebounded from the Hunter loss with three wins last week. Junior outside hitter Madelayne Garcia had 50 kills, 18 digs and ten aces in the four matches. Freshman Linda German (Bronx, NY) had 18 assists yesterday as Lehman swept Staten Island.
MEDGAR EVERS 4-2 on the week
The Cougars continues their winning ways, improving to 7-5 with two weeks left in the season and matching last seasons win total. Head coach Avril O'Neal's squad will face St. Elizabeth and Lehman this week, as they look to head strongly into the upcoming CUNYAC Championship.
NY CITY TECHNICAL 1-5 on the week
The Yellow Jackets beat SUNY-Purchase for the school's first win this season, but fell twice yesterday. Junior setter Sandy Kouw (New York, NY) had 13 digs in a loss to CSI.
STATEN ISLAND 1-3 on the week
CSI also won the team's first match last week, a straight set victory over City Tech, as the Dolphins got a boost from newcomer Julie Lowe (Staten Island, NY) with 15 digs, 7 assists, 5 kills and four aces.
YORK 1-3 on the week
The Cardinals beat CSI to start off the week, behind 11 kills, seven digs and five aces from freshman Maria Montenegro (Jamaica, NY) before dropping their remaining three contests. Marie Pierre had 17 digs in York's loss to John Jay yesterday.
