Player of The Week - Monair Brown, John Jay - Jr. MF, Mount Vernon, NY

Brown, a product of Jamaica, scored two goals in the Bloodhounds victory over Webb last week. His first goal came off a Marlon White pass at the 25 minute mark of the first half. The second tally was scored on a free kick from just outside the 18' mark. The 'Hounds take on Medgar Evers for a 2000 CUNYAC semifinal rematch this Wednesday at 4:00 pm.

Rookie of The Week - Santiago Helman, CCNY - Fr., MF, Queens, NY

One of only three new starters for the defending Regular Season Champions, Helman, get the nod in this opening week of the season. A native of Argentina, he scored the golden goal twelve minutes into overtime against Montclair State in the Beavers home opener, in a match scoreless at the end of regulation.

CUNYAC's 2000 Player of the Year, senior forward Ivan Popov (Bronx, NY) netted a goal and dishing out an assist in the Beavers 3-2 win over Centenary, after being held scoreless over the first two games. Last season he scored 42 points for 2.80 per game.

HUNTER 0-3 on the week
The Hawks have gotten off to a rough start, yielding 38 goals in their first three contests. But head coach John Benintendo and crew look forward to a matchup with New York City Tech on Wednesday.

JOHN JAY 1-1 on the week
The Bloodhounds welcomed back former head coach Dave Umeh with a 4-3 win over Webb to even their mark at 1-1, as they start CUNYAC play on Wednesday versus Medgar Evers.

MEDGAR EVERS 0-1 on the week
The Cougars lost a heartbreaker at Mount St. Mary last week, falling 1-0 in the 12th minute of overtime after a scoreless ninety minutes. Goalkeeper David Allen (Brooklyn, NY) was sharp in the contest.
