Player of The Week - Marc Meo, York - Jr., FW, Jamaica, NY
The junior forward from Jamaica, NY, has warmed up with three goals for the
Cardinals (2-1) in three games last week. In a battle for first place, Meo soared
high for a cross at the near post, beating the CCNY keeper and his defender to the
ball, heading it into the opposite corner for the game winner. Meo, a star outside
hitter on the men's volleyball team as well, also scored his team-leading fourth
goal of the year vs. Old Westbury.
|
Rookie of The Week - Santiago Helman, CCNY - Fr., MF, Queens, NY
The 6'1 Argentinian import (Marin HS), who resides in Queens, has bolstered the
City College midfield with exceptional passing and understanding of the game. Last
week he also proved that he can score when needed. Helman netted a pair of goals
(one in each half) in the 2-0 win over visiting Mt. St. Mary, giving him three goals
and two assists for the season.

CUNYAC / BRINE notes
BARUCH 0-2 on the week
The Statesmen suffered a pair of losses last week, despite solid defensive performances from senior Omar Henry (Bronx, NY) and freshman Bart Orzehowski (Brooklyn, NY), according to head coach Bobby Francis.
BROOKLYN 1-2 on the week

The Beavers clearly dictated the pace of the game, but were unable to put the ball into the net, even having Randy Wray's penalty kick saved in the 2nd half. The Beavers face Kean University in Union, NJ on Wednesday night. Kean, 13-0 is currently ranked #3 in the NCAA.
HUNTER 1-3 on the week
The Hawks finally put one in the win column, with a 1-0 win over CSI on Saturday, as sophomore Baffour Acheampong scored in the 10th minute of the game. Freshman defender Lee Cohen (Lawrence, NY) scored one of two Hawk goals against Centenary, but Hunter lost 3-2.
JOHN JAY 0-1-1 on the week
The Bloodhounds lost a non-conference encounter to Bard 2-1 and then tied NY City Tech 1-1 over the weekend. Edward Miranda scored for the Hounds vs. Bard, while Jason Bowrey netted one against City Tech.

Nosa Aigbe knocked in the rebound off a shot by Thomas Nelson in the 8th minute of sudden-death overtime to give the Cougars the win over Baruch. David Allen made eight saves for his 1st shutout.

After trouncing SUNY-Purchase 7-1, the high scoring Dolphins crashed at Hunter 1-0. Tom Consolmagno scored four times vs. Purchase and added another in a loss to Farmingdale. Igor Ogoula and Haider Abbas also tallied in the win.
YORK 2-1 on the week
After two impressive shutouts over Mt. St. Vincent and CCNY, the Cardinals dropped a 2-1 decision at Old Westbury. GK Stephane Koutou was solid between the posts as was rookie MF Cheick Keita.
